Acupuncture has its origins in China approximately 3000 years ago. The body is divided into 12 channels called “meridians” through which the vital life force (QI) is believed to flow.
In a normal health individual there is a balance in the body’s Yin-Yang”. It is believed that diseases are caused by “yin-yang’ imbalance.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
One or more small sterilized (one time use only) metal needles are inserted into the skin and tissues at precise points along the 12 meridians. These very tiny and thin needles will help to start the flow of vital life force again and restore “Yin-Yang” balance. In addition evidence has been shown that acupuncture stimulates the release of natural pain killers from within the body called “opiates” that block the pain signal from being transmitted to the brain.
Acupuncture can effectively help with the following:
- Repetitive strains
- Facial pain
- Osteoarthritis pain
- Muscle pain in the back and back
- Chronic pain
